BICISPORT BAND AIDS WOMENS TEAM get PEZ’ed with STEPHEN HODGE
When BiciSport first started in 1995 the initial focus was coffee, racing and a bit more coffee. The thought of running teams or events was a thing of the past (… yeah right …). Martin Wright suggested we do “something” and the idea was spawned for one of the first fully sponsored Womens teams in NSW. Approaches were made to various sponsors and along came a generous sponsor in Band Aids, then Kool Mints after that. So much for not running cycling teams anymore …
The first major event for the BiciSport Womens team was the Melbourne Bay Criterium Series, managed by Mike O’Reilly with Danny O’Keefe & Nigel Smith as team mechanics. The Series was based around Geelong & Portarlington.
Lars Michelson & Stephen Hodge (both Festina) raced that year and so the team picture was taken on the Geelong waterfront
