News Shorts - 13 January

There can’t be any more of a giving contributor to NSW & Australian cycling than Alex Fulcher, who sadly passed away over the weekend after a long illness. Alex was an outstanding cyclist in his own right, then became a proactive club organiser, a generous sponsor, then a NSW & Cycling Australia administrator without peer. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Waratah Masters @ ECR @ 12 Jan - Eric Dole took a cracker of a win B grade at ECR, with good rides by Ian Grainger & Raoul Westbrook
CA National Road Championships @ Ballarat @ 11-12 Jan - Ballarat for another year is done for both Mike O’Reilly & Alex Simmons.
BiciSport Lake Cargelligo Classic @ 12 Jan - with the Tumut Classic cancelled due to the bushfires the members of BiciSport Griffith formed their own “BiciSport Classic” - story and pictures next week

14 Jan - Heffron Park Criteriums
19 Jan - Eastern Creek Raceway (Waratah Masters) , Ourimbah Criteriums (Central Coast) , Peoples Classic (South Australia)

New Special Events have been added & updated on the BiciSport website which includes -

Heffron Park Summer Criteriums
- Racing them resumes on 14 January then every Tuesday from 6.00pm at Heffron Park Maroubra
Goulburn & Bowral CycNSW Track Opens - 1 & 2 February
- Davide Browne takes on the Goulburn-Bowral double
Wagga (Tolland) Weekend - 7 & 8 March
- Traditionally the first event on the NSW Open Winter program.

Bathurst to Bathurst Weekend - 14 & 15 March
- The premier weekend on the NSW calendar with criteriums on the Saturday in central Bathurst and a new B2B course on the Sunday

* Motor traffic conditions are now LIGHTER with the NSW School holidays on the go

- Forest Way (at Forestville) … taking longer to resolve than the Operation Puerto cycling drug bust !
- Mona Vale Rd (Kimbriki Tip to Mona Vale) … road widening has commenced with a completion date of 2022.

14 & 16 January - Waratah Peloton @ pass the corner of Yulong Ave & McCarrs Creek Rd Terrey Hills @ 8.05am for Akuna Bay, top of McCarrs Creek Rd climb at 8.40am, then direction Duffys Forest, then return Terrey Hills shops @ 9.15am then to St Ives for coffee
15 January - Wise Monkey Cafe Gruppetto @ Berowra Railway Station @ 7.30am for 60k to Calga & return
16 January - Happy Wheels Waterloo Ride @ 6.00am @ Happy Wheels bike shop at Waterloo. Chairmans Ride @ Centennial Park @ 9.30am @ Spruce Goose Cafe
18 January - BiciSport Coffee at Miramare Sandstone Cafe (enter off Myoora Rd) @ 9.30am
