Giro 1988 # 1 - The Gavia Pass was first used in the Giro in 1960. Its been 32 years since the Giro went over the Gavia Pass in 1988 in a freakish snow storm on the way to the Bormio stage finish.

Eric Breukink (pictured, Team Panasonic) near the summit. The descent from the Gavia summit into Bormio was as dangerous as it was cold.

COVID 19 & NORTHSIDE TRAFFIC HOTSPOTS

  • Caution still needs to be exercised on traditional cycling roads like McCarrs Creek Rd towards Church Point, then into Akuna Bay & West Head. Traffic volumes are much higher than normal
