COVID 19 RACE CANCELLATIONS EVER PRESENT

  • The smaller club events are quietly restarting (Heffron Park, Lansdowne Park, Eastern Creek, Penrith, Parramatta & West Head) but the larger promotions remain in the hurt box. It would be fair to say that mass participation events (with more than 500 starters) have a real problem at present. Covid 19 is most certainly sitting over our shoulder, and you get the sense that apprehension and serious concern is well and truly still with us.

  • Note that some of the bigger events have recently cancelled, including -

    • Aug 22 - BiciSport Tour de France Dinner (with CJ Sutton)

    • Aug 29 - Cootamundra Open

    • Oct 5 - Gears & Beers Cyclosportive (Wagga)

    • Oct 10 - World Masters Track Championships (Manchester, UK)

COVID 19 & NORTHSIDE TRAFFIC HOTSPOTS - TRAFFIC VOLUMES UP 20%

  • Caution still needs to be exercised on traditional cycling roads like McCarrs Creek Rd towards Church Point, then into Akuna Bay & West Head. Traffic volumes are much higher than normal

  • Centennial Park remains very busy with car traffic volumes have increased 20% courtesy of Covid 19

La Vie Claire # 1 - Conceived by Bernard Tapie in late 1983 it all kicked off in 1984. Jersey design was based on the Mondrian inspired multi-coloured squares designed by Dutch abstract artist Piet Mondrian. Sponsors were many with La Vie Claire (Health food chain), Radar, Wonder (batteries), Terraillon (bathroom scales), Look (Ski & cycling bindings) and finally Toshiba.

La Vie Claire # 2 - a team loaded with extreme talent with the likes of Greg Lemond, Steve Bauer, Kim Anderson, Andy Hampsten, Bernard Hinault, Nikki Ruttiman, Marc Gomez, Jean Francois Bernard and Pascal Richard. The list was endless.

La Vie Claire # 3 - Toshiba came on board in 1988 as the primary sponsor. The famous Mondrian squares gave way to whatever you call the 1990 team kit (lets be polite … it didn’t really work !)
